Bihar School Uses Desks to Support Roof After Pillar Collapse

In Darbhanga, Bihar, the Kiratpur Primary School in Alinagar block is facing a safety crisis as desks and benches are being used to prop up the roof after a pillar collapsed three to four months ago. The dilapidated two-room building, constructed in 1983, poses a risk to the 191 students from Class I to V. Despite repeated complaints and protests by villagers and school authorities, no permanent repairs have been made. The district administration has now stated that a new six-room building is planned.

बिहार के दरभंगा में अलीनागर ब्लॉक के किरतपुर प्राइमरी स्कूल में सुरक्षा का संकट मंडरा रहा है। तीन से चार महीने पहले एक पिलर गिरने के बाद से छत को सहारा देने के लिए डेस्क और बेंच का इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा है। 1983 में बना जर्जर दो कमरों वाला भवन पहली से पांचवीं कक्षा के 191 छात्रों के लिए खतरा पैदा कर रहा है। ग्रामीणों और स्कूल अधिकारियों द्वारा बार-बार शिकायतें और विरोध प्रदर्शन करने के बावजूद कोई स्थायी मरम्मत नहीं की गई है। जिला प्रशासन ने अब कहा है कि छह कमरों की नई इमारत बनाने की योजना है।
