India's three state-run fuel retailers, IOC, BPCL, and HPCL, reported a combined standalone net profit of Rs 30,106 crore in the July-September quarter. This profit represents nearly 39% of their annual earnings and is a significant increase of 68.3% compared to the same period last year. The strong performance was driven by a boost in refining margins and inventory gains, which more than compensated for losses on fuel sales and unpaid LPG subsidies. Despite frozen petrol and diesel prices since May, the companies managed to achieve these results.
