Times of India · education

Teachers in Telangana have urged the state government to immediately fill approximately 3,000 vacant faculty positions in universities. The Telangana Schools and Technical Colleges Employees Association highlighted that the current proposed recruitment of only 500 members is insufficient and will negatively impact the quality of education, research, and students' futures. The association also pointed out the over-reliance on contractual faculty and called for prioritizing regular appointments. Meanwhile, contract professors are demanding regularization and implementation of UGC 7th Pay Commission scales, with some having worked for three decades.
