SGPGI Lucknow Offers Free Growth Hormone Therapy For Children With Rare Diseases

Children suffering from growth hormone deficiency, Turner syndrome, and Prader-Willi syndrome can now receive free growth hormone therapy at SGPGIMS in Lucknow. This initiative is supported by the Union health ministry's national rare disease policy and managed by the department of paediatric endocrinology with assistance from medical genetics. The institute also operates a paediatric diabetes clinic serving children from Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states. SGPGIMS director Prof RK Dhiman highlighted the significant need for specialised paediatric care for the state's nearly 10 crore child and adolescent population.

ग्रोथ हार्मोन की कमी, टर्नर सिंड्रोम और प्रेडर-विली सिंड्रोम से पीड़ित बच्चों को अब लखनऊ के एसजीपीजीआईएमएस में मुफ्त ग्रोथ हार्मोन थेरेपी मिल सकती है। यह पहल केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय की राष्ट्रीय दुर्लभ रोग नीति द्वारा समर्थित है और इसका प्रबंधन पीडियाट्रिक एंडोक्रिनोलॉजी विभाग द्वारा मेडिकल जेनेटिक्स की सहायता से किया जा रहा है। संस्थान उत्तर प्रदेश और पड़ोसी राज्यों के बच्चों की सेवा करने वाली एक पीडियाट्रिक डायबिटीज क्लिनिक भी संचालित करता है। एसजीपीजीआईएमएस के निदेशक प्रोफेसर आरके धीमान ने राज्य की लगभग 10 करोड़ बाल और किशोर आबादी के लिए विशेष बाल चिकित्सा देखभाल की महत्वपूर्ण आवश्यकता पर प्रकाश डाला।
