Meghalaya's final electoral roll has been published with 2.18 million electors, an increase of 14,720 from the draft. Two individuals suspected of being foreign nationals, of Nepalese origin and married to Indian women, were excluded from the final roll and their case referred to the home department. These exclusions represent a tiny fraction of the over 1.87 lakh names removed during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for various reasons including death, absence, and shifting.
