Indian Mutual Funds Halt New Gold ETF Investments Ahead of Festivals

News18 Hindi · india

Over a dozen Indian mutual fund companies, including SBI, HDFC, and ICICI Prudential, have temporarily suspended new investments in Gold Fund of Funds (FoFs). These FoFs invest in Gold Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) rather than physical gold. The restrictions apply to lump-sum investments, switch-ins, and new SIP/STP registrations, remaining in effect until further notice. This move comes just before the festive season, typically a peak time for gold purchases in India. While new investments are halted, existing unit holders can still redeem their investments, and previously registered SIPs will continue.
