Tamil Nadu Minister Addresses Samsung Workers' Protest

Samsung workers in Sriperumbudur, Chennai, continued their 31-day protest on Wednesday, demanding union recognition and wage increases. Police arrested and dispersed protesting workers, dismantling their protest pandal. Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu stated the government respects workers' rights and is not trying to curb the protest, attributing police action to unauthorized demonstrations. He added that the issue of union recognition is sub-judice in the Madras High Court and assured that the state government is seeking a resolution through dialogue. The arrested workers have since been released.
