Delhi Govt Conducts Two Cloud Seeding Trials To Combat Air Pollution

Mint · environment

The Delhi government has conducted two cloud-seeding trials near the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the past 15 days. These experiments aim to assess if artificial rainfall can help reduce the capital's severe air pollution. The recent attempts follow a failed project with IIT Kanpur last year, which cost over ₹1 crore without generating rain. The government is considering further trials after Diwali and Chhath, though an official announcement is unlikely before the festival. Delhi's air quality remains in the 'very poor' category.
