Court Halts Mohali Industrial Park Land Acquisition

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed land acquisition proceedings for a planned 300-acre industrial park in Mohali's Sectors 101 and 103. The court intervened after villagers challenged the acquisition, citing violations of the Right to Fair Compensation Act, 2013. Justices JS Puri and PS Chauhan noted that the state failed to adhere to statutory provisions, particularly regarding the acquisition of irrigated, multi-cropped agricultural land. The court observed that the government did not demonstrate exceptional circumstances for the acquisition or provide proof of hearing objections from affected families.

पंजाब और हरियाणा हाई कोर्ट ने मोहाली के सेक्टर 101 और 103 में बनने वाले 300 एकड़ के इंडस्ट्रियल पार्क के लिए ज़मीन अधिग्रहण पर रोक लगा दी है। कोर्ट ने यह फैसला तब लिया जब कुछ ग्रामीणों ने राइट टू फेयर कंपनसेशन एक्ट, 2013 के उल्लंघन का हवाला देते हुए अधिग्रहण को चुनौती दी। कोर्ट ने पाया कि सरकार ने नियमों का पालन नहीं किया, खासकर सिंचित और बहु-फसली कृषि भूमि के अधिग्रहण में।
