Agnipath Scheme Overhauled: Agniveers Get Extended Service Option

The Indian government has approved a significant overhaul of the Agnipath recruitment scheme, extending the engagement period for Agniveers not selected for regular service. These individuals will now have an additional two years of engagement, followed by an opportunity to join the Armed Forces as regular soldiers. This decision, based on recommendations from the three services, aims to create a pathway for the eventual absorption of all willing Agniveers. Eligibility for this absorption will be based on merit and prescribed selection criteria, offering a more defined career progression.
