Coastal Karnataka Railway Integration Aims For Overall Development, Not Just Mangaluru

Passenger associations from Kundapura and Uttara Kannada districts have stated that the integration of Mangaluru Railway Region with SWR's Mysuru Division is intended to enhance operational efficiency and railway infrastructure across the entire 300-km coastal Karnataka network. They argue that through trains between Bengaluru and Madgaon/Karwar should bypass Mangaluru to save travel time, suggesting alternative stations on the outskirts for local passengers. The associations emphasized that Indian Railways serves everyone and development should not be concentrated solely in Mangaluru.
