Karnataka government has launched a geofencing-based night-time attendance system using the 'Kartavya' mobile app to ensure officials reside at their headquarters and provide prompt public service. Initially, doctors in taluk hospitals and PHCs will pilot the system, marking attendance after 9 pm within their designated areas. Exemptions are provided for those on sanctioned leave or official duty elsewhere, with reasons to be recorded. This initiative aims to address issues of delayed service delivery and public inconvenience caused by officials not residing in their jurisdictions, as highlighted by the Upa Lokayukta.

कर्नाटक सरकार ने यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए 'कर्तव्य' मोबाइल ऐप का उपयोग करके जियो-फेंसिंग आधारित रात के समय की उपस्थिति प्रणाली शुरू की है कि अधिकारी अपने मुख्यालय में रहें और तुरंत सार्वजनिक सेवा प्रदान करें। शुरुआत में, तालुका अस्पतालों और पीएचसी में डॉक्टर रात 9 बजे के बाद अपने निर्धारित क्षेत्रों के भीतर उपस्थिति दर्ज करके इस प्रणाली का परीक्षण करेंगे। स्वीकृत छुट्टी या कहीं और आधिकारिक ड्यूटी पर रहने वालों को छूट दी गई है, जिसके कारणों को दर्ज किया जाएगा।
