Mumbai Construction Boom Sparks Calls for Better Dust Control Measures
Times of India · environment
Experts are urging a rethink of dust control practices amidst Mumbai's construction boom. Dust is generated not only from demolition but also from excavation for basements and cutting walls for utilities. Architects suggest shifting from heavy equipment demolition to staged dismantling, similar to older manual methods, to significantly reduce pollution. Consultants also propose mandatory netting during excavation and regular fogging to mitigate airborne particles. The industry is advised to adopt precast materials to further curb dust generation at sites.
