A 68-year-old man who exclusively used cheques and never activated his ATM card has been awarded a refund of Rs 1,59,999 by the Rajkot Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. The amount was unauthorisedly withdrawn from his SBI savings account through multiple Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) transactions between September 17 and September 25, 2023. The bank was found deficient in service for failing to resolve the issue promptly after the customer reported the fraudulent withdrawals.
