After an eight-year absence, Buxa Tiger Reserve in West Bengal has welcomed a three-year-old tigress from Bihar's Valmiki Tiger Reserve. The reintroduction, West Bengal's first, occurred on Friday in the reserve's core zone. Union minister Bhupender Yadav and West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari were present for the release. Three more tigers are planned for release in the next two months. The tigress will be monitored for adaptation and behaviour. This initiative aims to restore the tiger population in Buxa, which had dwindled due to habitat issues and prey scarcity.
