Houthi rebels are battling government forces for control of strategic mountains near Yemen's Red Sea coast. The clashes have killed at least 674 people and displaced over 158,000. Control of the Kahboub Mountains could allow Houthis to sever the coast from the south. Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi accused the US of considering direct military involvement. Reports suggest the US called off air attacks against Houthis at the last minute.
