Couple Gets Life Imprisonment for Murdering Dalit Man Over One-Sided Love

A special SC/ST court in Muzaffarnagar has sentenced a couple, Meenakshi and Sonu, to life imprisonment for the murder of 21-year-old Ankit. The couple was found guilty of tying up, beating, and strangling Ankit at their home in January 2024. The prosecution presented seven witnesses to establish the charges, including Ankit's family and the doctor who conducted the post-mortem. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each accused. The murder reportedly stemmed from Ankit's unreciprocated feelings for Meenakshi, which she feared could impact her marriage.

मुजफ्फरनगर की एक विशेष SC/ST अदालत ने 21 वर्षीय अंकित की हत्या के मामले में पति-पत्नी मीनाक्षी और सोनू को उम्रकैद की सजा सुनाई है। अदालत ने पाया कि इस जोड़े ने जनवरी 2024 में अपने घर पर अंकित को बांधकर, पीटा और गला घोंटकर मार डाला था। अभियोजन पक्ष ने आरोपों को साबित करने के लिए सात गवाह पेश किए, जिनमें अंकित का परिवार और पोस्टमार्टम करने वाले डॉक्टर शामिल थे। अदालत ने दोनों आरोपियों पर 50,000 रुपये का जुर्माना भी लगाया। यह हत्या कथित तौर पर अंकित की मीनाक्षी के प्रति एकतरफा भावनाओं के कारण हुई थी, जिससे उसे अपने विवाह पर असर पड़ने का डर था।
