Supreme Court Questions Jharkhand DGP Appointment Rules, Seeks Response
Business Standard · politics
The Supreme Court on Thursday questioned the rules for appointing Jharkhand's Director General of Police, stating they appear to contradict an earlier court decision. The bench has asked senior IPS officer Tadasha Mishra, the current police chief, to file a response as her position could be affected. The Centre had challenged the state's 'Selection and Appointment of Director General and Inspector General of Police, Jharkhand (Head of the Police Force) Regulation, 2025', arguing it violates the Supreme Court's Prakash Singh judgement. Jharkhand's counsel indicated the state would revisit the rules.
केंद्र ने राज्य के 'Selection and Appointment of Director General and Inspector General of Police, Jharkhand (Head of the Police Force) Regulation, 2025' को चुनौती दी थी, यह तर्क देते हुए कि यह सुप्रीम कोर्ट के प्रकाश सिंह फैसले का उल्लंघन करता है।
