Tinsukia district administration has advised market and commercial establishments to remain open on Sundays to accommodate workers who have this as their only weekly holiday. This move aims to improve public convenience, especially for tea garden workers and other employees who struggle to shop on weekdays. The advisory follows representations highlighting the inconvenience caused by Sunday closures. Shops can arrange their weekly closure on another weekday, provided they comply with the Assam Shops and Establishments Act, 2022, ensuring workers receive their mandatory rest day.
