Times of India · india
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Haryana government to pay the remaining medical reimbursement to a retired teacher whose leg was amputated due to gangrene. The court found the rejection of his claim, based on treatment at a non-empanelled hospital and lack of emergency certification, to be "unduly technical, highly insensitive and legally unsustainable." The petitioner incurred Rs 89,047 for treatment at Karnal Nursing Home. While some reimbursement was sanctioned, the court ordered payment of the remaining dues with 6% annual interest.
