Bescom Loses Over 16,000 Transformers In Seven Months

Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd. (Bescom) reported a significant loss of 16,749 transformers in just seven months until July 2026. Annually, between 38,000 to 40,000 transformers are damaged due to various reasons including overload and lightning. Bescom incurred capital expenditure of ₹3,164.79 crore for the 2024-25 fiscal, with ₹2,41.04 crore allocated for transformer replacement. Despite regular maintenance, transformer failure rates have remained consistent at 7-8% since 2019.

बेंगलुरु इलेक्ट्रिसिटी सप्लाई कंपनी लिमिटेड (Bescom) ने जुलाई 2026 तक सिर्फ सात महीनों में 16,749 ट्रांसफार्मर के बड़े नुकसान की रिपोर्ट दी है। हर साल ओवरलोड और बिजली गिरने जैसी वजहों से 38,000 से 40,000 ट्रांसफार्मर खराब हो जाते हैं। Bescom ने 2024-25 वित्तीय वर्ष के लिए ₹3,164.79 करोड़ का पूंजीगत व्यय किया, जिसमें ट्रांसफार्मर बदलने के लिए ₹2,41.04 करोड़ रखे गए हैं। नियमित रखरखाव के बावजूद, 2019 से ट्रांसफार्मर फेल होने की दर 7-8% बनी हुई है।
