This condition, known as smoker melanosis, leads to increased pigmentation and can cause brown or black spots on the lips and inside the mouth. The heat and smoke from cigarettes can also irritate and dry out the lips. While smoking is a primary cause, other factors like hormonal changes, sun exposure, and vitamin deficiencies can also contribute to darkened lips.
