Bengaluru city experienced its driest southwest monsoon in 20 years, recording only 313.3 mm of rainfall between June 1 and September 30, a significant deficit of 236 mm against the average. The HAL station received 434 mm with a deficit of 29 mm, while the airport station recorded 391 mm. Overall, Karnataka received 564.6 mm rainfall, a 32% deficit. IMD officials attribute this rainfall deficit to strong El Nino conditions, which delayed the monsoon's onset in the state.
