Supreme Court Stays Arrest of Woman Journalist in Delhi

The Supreme Court has intervened in allegations of police misconduct against women journalists during protests in Delhi. The court has directed the Delhi Police not to arrest a woman journalist, following a plea that an FIR was filed against her under the SC/ST Act. Senior advocate Indira Jaising has been asked to submit documents, including names for a potential inquiry committee, in sealed envelopes. The court indicated that a committee of retired judges and police officers might be formed to investigate the alleged mistreatment.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने दिल्ली में विरोध प्रदर्शनों के दौरान महिला पत्रकारों के खिलाफ पुलिस के कथित दुर्व्यवहार के आरोपों में हस्तक्षेप किया है। कोर्ट ने दिल्ली पुलिस को एक महिला पत्रकार को गिरफ्तार न करने का निर्देश दिया है, क्योंकि एक याचिका में कहा गया है कि SC/ST एक्ट के तहत उनके खिलाफ FIR दर्ज की गई थी। वरिष्ठ वकील इंदिरा जयसिंह से सीलबंद लिफाफों में संभावित जांच समिति के लिए नामों सहित दस्तावेज जमा करने को कहा गया है। कोर्ट ने संकेत दिया कि कथित दुर्व्यवहार की जांच के लिए सेवानिवृत्त न्यायाधीशों और पुलिस अधिकारियों की एक समिति बनाई जा सकती है।
