Florida Store Owner Charged With Murder After Fatally Striking Teen

An Indian-origin store owner in Florida, 32-year-old Kavan Patel, has been charged with second-degree murder after he allegedly intentionally struck a 14-year-old boy with his vehicle. Patel suspected the teen, Hunter Russey, of a break-in attempt at his shop and followed him. Russey was found unresponsive and later died after being taken off life support. Patel did not immediately notify law enforcement or render aid, leaving the boy on the roadside for nearly an hour. Police have not confirmed if the break-in attempt occurred.
