Brazil Plants 840,000 Trees to Restore Atlantic Forest
Times of India · environment
Over two decades, a conservation partnership between World Land Trust and Brazil's REGUA has restored 607 hectares of the Atlantic Forest by planting 840,000 trees. This initiative has created vital wildlife corridors, reconnecting fragmented habitats and aiding the return of species like the lowland tapir. The project also involved restoring a lowland wetland, which now hosts over 220 bird species. This extensive reforestation effort aims to counteract centuries of deforestation and exploitation that have significantly reduced the forest's original cover.
