SC Rejects Aravalli Panel Extension, Sets Nov 30

The Supreme Court has rejected a six-month extension plea for the high-powered committee tasked with defining the Aravalli hills and range. Chief Justice of India Surya Kant questioned the delay, directing the five-member panel to submit its final report by November 30, 2026. The committee, headed by Kanchan Devi, must work diligently to finalise recommendations on regulating mining and defining the ecologically fragile region.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने अरावली पहाड़ियों और रेंज को परिभाषित करने के लिए गठित हाई-पावर्ड कमेटी को छह महीने का विस्तार देने की याचिका खारिज कर दी है। मुख्य न्यायाधीश सूर्यकांत ने देरी पर सवाल उठाते हुए पांच सदस्यीय पैनल को 30 नवंबर, 2026 तक अपनी अंतिम रिपोर्ट जमा करने का निर्देश दिया है। कंचन देवी की अध्यक्षता वाली कमेटी को खनन को विनियमित करने और इस नाजुक क्षेत्र को परिभाषित करने पर सिफारिशों को अंतिम रूप देने के लिए लगन से काम करना होगा।
