Odisha's BJP government has asserted the state's rights over the disputed Kotia region ahead of Andhra Pradesh's panchayat elections there. Revenue minister Suresh Pujari stated Odisha would not allow Andhra Pradesh to claim the area, despite some residents speaking Telugu. Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged the current CM to seek central intervention due to escalating tensions. The Congress party criticized both the previous BJD and current BJP governments for their handling of the dispute, demanding action to protect Odisha's territorial integrity.
