IIT Students Face New Pressures After Achieving Dream Campus Admission
Times of India · education
Years of intense preparation for IITs often leave students unprepared for the realities of campus life. Upon arrival, they face academic pressure, constant comparison with peers, and the burden of the 'IITian' tag. This transition can be overwhelming, leading to significant stress. Tragically, at least 65 students have died by suicide across IITs between January 2021 and December 2025, with 30 deaths in the past two years, highlighting a critical gap in support for students after they achieve their academic goals.
