The incident occurred on flight FZ1073, carrying 174 people, including 27 children. Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian national, was seriously injured but managed to open the cockpit door, allowing other crew and passengers to overpower the attacker. Additional Flydubai pilots on board helped regain control and landed the plane safely in Tabuk.
