The deceased, including a 40-year-old man, his son, and two nephews from Katihar, Bihar, were visiting relatives for Dussehra. They had gone to bathe in the river before their scheduled return journey. Unattended belongings on the riverbank alerted locals, leading to an intensive search by police and SDRF. All four bodies were recovered, and inquest proceedings have begun to determine the exact circumstances of the drowning.
