Thirty-five years after economic liberalisation began, India's agricultural sector continues to grapple with significant structural challenges. These include underdeveloped markets, insufficient investment, and a persistent reliance on subsidies. Furthermore, there is considerable resistance to implementing necessary reforms within the sector. The reforms that propelled other parts of the Indian economy forward have largely bypassed the nation's farms, leaving them lagging behind.
