The Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHRA) has announced that its members will stop accepting UPI payments exceeding ₹2,000 from October 15. This decision comes after the introduction of a 0.4% UPI merchant discount rate (MDR) framework, which the association claims will impose an additional financial burden on small establishments. KHRA president G. Jayapal stated that customers will need to pay in cash for transactions above this limit.
