FSSAI Mandates Cold Chain For Perishable Food Items Across Supply Chain
Business Standard · business
India's food regulator, FSSAI, has directed all food business operators (FBOs) to maintain controlled-temperature conditions for perishable items like khoa, paneer, meat, and fish throughout the supply chain. This measure aims to safeguard public health by preventing microbial growth and spoilage. FBOs must ensure hygienic vehicles, proper packaging, and maintain prescribed temperatures from procurement to delivery. State food safety officers are instructed to conduct strict vigilance and take action against non-compliance, including potential seizure and destruction of food items.
