India's Air Force Faces Critical Fighter Jet Shortage Despite Government Efforts

Hindustan Times · india

India's Air Force is experiencing a significant decline in air power due to a slow supply of fighter jets, according to Air Chief Marshal AP Singh. The IAF currently operates 29 squadrons against a sanctioned strength of 42, running at approximately 75% capacity. Despite the government's defence procurement policies, indigenous jet deliveries like the Tejas Mk 1A are delayed. This shortage poses a serious risk given ongoing global conflicts and Pakistan's military buildup.
