Jamia Millia Islamia Agrees To Hold Student Elections After Weeks-Long Protest

Students at Jamia Millia Islamia university in Delhi have ended their 18-day protest after the administration agreed to their demands for restoring the students' union. The university administration has set May 15 as the deadline for approving the student union constitution. Elections will be held within six weeks of the next academic session's start, or by the end of August. Student union elections have not been held at the university since 2006, with students protesting since October 12.

दिल्ली की जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया यूनिवर्सिटी के छात्रों ने छात्र संघ की बहाली की अपनी मांगों पर प्रशासन के सहमत होने के बाद अपना 18-दिवसीय विरोध प्रदर्शन समाप्त कर दिया है। यूनिवर्सिटी प्रशासन ने छात्र संघ के संविधान को मंजूरी देने के लिए 15 मई की समय सीमा तय की है। अगले शैक्षणिक सत्र के शुरू होने के छह सप्ताह के भीतर, या अगस्त के अंत तक चुनाव कराए जाएंगे। यूनिवर्सिटी में 2006 से छात्र संघ चुनाव नहीं हुए हैं, छात्र 12 अक्टूबर से विरोध कर रहे थे।
