Al Jazeera · world
Yemen's government has warned of an imminent health catastrophe in the besieged city of Taiz, as the Houthis tighten their siege and obstruct essential supplies. Health facilities are nearing depletion of medicines, medical supplies, and fuel, threatening critical services like emergency care, surgery, and dialysis. The Ministry of Public Health and Population stated that without immediate intervention, preventable deaths are likely. This intensified siege, described as more severe than in 2015, is cutting off the last main road connecting Taiz city to other government-held areas, impacting approximately 2.8 million people.
