Kochi Water Crisis Worsens, Residents Face Severe Scarcity

The Hindu · india

Residents in Kochi's tail-end areas are experiencing a deepening water crisis, with the situation worsening over recent months. Despite repeated representations to the Kerala Water Authority, the scarcity persists, forcing households to spend significantly on private tanker water. Over 100 houses in Valappilkadavu Road alone are affected, spending ₹800 to ₹1,000 weekly. Areas like SRM Road and Pachalam also report acute shortages, with KWA citing increased consumption and reduced functioning of the Thammanam tank. Residents are preparing to protest if the issue is not resolved.
