NMDC Iron Ore Production Up 8% in September Despite Heavy Rains
The Hindu - Business · business
State-owned miner NMDC reported an 8% year-on-year increase in iron ore production for September, reaching 4.04 million tonnes. However, sales saw a nearly 10% dip to 3.51 million tonnes during the same period. Heavy rainfall and flooding in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, disrupted mining and evacuation operations, leading to stockpiles and affecting freight movement due to damaged railway tracks. Despite these challenges, the company's cumulative production for the first six months of the fiscal year rose by nearly 23% to 27.27 million tonnes.
