ED Cites WhatsApp Chats with Serial Numbers in CMRL Pay-off Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has recommended registering a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the CMRL pay-off scandal. The ED alleges that payments to Veena, daughter of former CM Pinarayi Vijayan, were bribes on behalf of her father. The agency cited WhatsApp chats allegedly showing currency serial numbers used as verification tokens in hawala transactions. CMRL reportedly paid Rs 3.28 crore to Veena and her company, Exalogic, without corresponding IT consultancy services being rendered. The ED also referred to seized documents detailing foreign currency deposits and transactions.

प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ED) ने CMRL रिश्वत कांड में भ्रष्टाचार निवारण अधिनियम के तहत मामला दर्ज करने की सिफारिश की है। ED का आरोप है कि पूर्व CM पिनराई विजयन की बेटी वीना को उनके पिता की ओर से रिश्वत दी गई थी। एजेंसी ने कथित तौर पर ऐसे WhatsApp चैट का हवाला दिया है जिनमें हवाला लेनदेन में सत्यापन टोकन के रूप में इस्तेमाल किए गए मुद्रा सीरियल नंबर दिखाए गए हैं। CMRL ने कथित तौर पर वीना और उनकी कंपनी Exalogic को 3.28 करोड़ रुपये का भुगतान किया, जबकि इसके बदले कोई IT कंसल्टेंसी सेवाएं नहीं दी गईं। ED ने विदेशी मुद्रा जमा और लेनदेन का विवरण देने वाले जब्त दस्तावेजों का भी उल्लेख किया है।
