Ambuja Cements reported a significant 90% year-on-year slump in its consolidated profit for the September quarter, reaching Rs 236 crore. This decline was attributed to escalating operational costs and a high base from the previous year, which included a substantial tax write-back. While consolidated revenue remained stable at Rs 9,197 crore and sales volumes were marginally lower, total expenses increased by over 6% to Rs 8,877 crore. The company cited elevated fuel and logistics costs as key factors impacting industry margins.
