Patiala Civic Body Responsible For Garbage Dumpsite Remediation, Punjab Dept Tells NGT

Punjab's housing and urban development department has informed the NGT that the Patiala municipal corporation is solely responsible for cleaning up the Ghalori Gate garbage dumpsite. The department clarified that neither it nor the Patiala Development Authority was involved in dumping or processing waste at the location. This submission came in response to concerns raised about environmental and health hazards from legacy waste and toxic leachate near a historic cremation ground.

पंजाब के आवास और शहरी विकास विभाग ने एनजीटी को सूचित किया है कि पटियाला नगर निगम गालोरी गेट कूड़ा डंपसाइट की सफाई के लिए पूरी तरह से जिम्मेदार है। विभाग ने स्पष्ट किया कि न तो वे और न ही पटियाला विकास प्राधिकरण उस स्थान पर कचरा फेंकने या उसका प्रसंस्करण करने में शामिल थे। यह जानकारी पर्यावरण और स्वास्थ्य के लिए खतरनाक पुरानी गंदगी और ऐतिहासिक श्मशान घाट के पास जहरीले रिसाव से जुड़ी चिंताओं के जवाब में दी गई थी।
