Florida Pilots Fly Over 12,000 Rescued Animals

A Florida-based nonprofit, Animals Away, has flown over 12,000 rescued dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters to adoptive homes since 2010. Volunteer pilots donate their time and planes to transport pets from southern states to the Northeast and Midwest, where demand is high. This initiative began locally to address space issues in Central Florida shelters. The program has grown into a multi-state network, moving dozens of animals weekly.
