Jackie Crenshaw of Connecticut lost approximately $900,000 to a crypto romance scam after meeting a man on a dating app. The scammer, who called himself Brandon Miller, built trust over weeks, even sending food deliveries and discussing future plans. He eventually convinced her to invest in cryptocurrency, leading her to withdraw funds from her 401(k) and take out a home equity loan. After receiving a suspicious check and following the scammer's instructions, she realized she had been defrauded. Crenshaw is now working with AARP to warn others about such scams.
