Adults with severe mental illness are dying 15 to 20 years earlier than the general population, largely due to preventable physical diseases. Research indicates they are nearly five times more likely to die from serious physical conditions before age 75. These findings emerge ahead of a government review on mental health, autism, and ADHD, which is expected to advocate for a more comprehensive patient support approach.
