Chittoor District Collector Sumit Kumar has called for a united front to combat child marriages, emphasizing the need for awareness starting in schools. He proposed sensitizing students from Class 6 onwards about the legal and social consequences of early marriage. Self-Help Groups are urged to integrate prevention into their agendas, while hostel wardens must report suspicious cases to authorities. Police action against violators will be stringent, with no political interference tolerated. The Superintendent of Police stated that offenders face two years of rigorous imprisonment without bail.
