India Slams UN Human Rights Office Over Delhi Protest Concerns
Hindustan Times · politics
India's Ministry of External Affairs has strongly criticized the United Nations Human Rights Office for expressing concerns over recent Delhi protests. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal called the remarks "unwarranted" and "unacceptable," accusing the UN body of interfering in India's internal affairs. He suggested the OHCHR exhibits selective bias by not reacting to similar situations globally, which he warned could undermine multilateralism and the organization's credibility. India maintains that its citizens' right to peaceful assembly is constitutionally guaranteed, subject to reasonable restrictions for public order.
