Times of India · india
Fourteen individuals, including eight minors, were rescued from suspected bonded labour situations across Nagaur, Bikaner, and Ajmer in Rajasthan during September. Families reported being trapped by debt, facing restricted movement, verbal abuse, and physical assault, with children forced to work. These rescues followed complaints from relatives of those held captive on farms. India is currently marking 50 years of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976, with a goal to eradicate bonded labour by 2030.
