Economic Times Markets · stocks

Indian government bonds closed lower on Monday, reversing earlier gains as persistently high oil prices negatively impacted market sentiment and pressured the rupee. This situation has increased expectations that the Reserve Bank of India might raise interest rates to support the currency. Brent crude futures remained near $115 a barrel, affecting bonds and the currency of India, the world's third-largest oil importer. The benchmark 6.94% 2036 bond yield ended 1 basis point higher at 7.4826%.
