Former television host Bob Barker reportedly spent nearly $1 million to fund the relocation of three aging African elephants from the Toronto Zoo to a sanctuary in California in October 2013. The elephants, Iringa, Toka, and Thika, arrived at the Performing Animal Welfare Society's (PAWS) ARK 2000 sanctuary after years of debate and advocacy. Barker, visibly moved, described the moment as having tears in his eyes.
